Mum given the wrong drugs

Hi I'm wondering if I can ask a question about tegretol retard? My mum has been on it for about 20 years. Up until this year she was very stable on it-she would have a cluster of seizures (grand mal) every couple of years but otherwise she was fine. This year she has had about 10 Grand mal seizures and several episodes of wandering off for hours and not knowing where she was. She has seemed very distracted and vague, suffering lapses in concentration and also blurred vision where she feels the...

I've recently been started on lamotrigine and feel this is making me drowsy during the day. Does anybody else get drowsiness on this drug? Does it pass after a few weeks of being on it?

Feeling like a zombie

Hello everyone. I am feeling like a zombie lately. Over the past month nearly I have been having constant fits every night. I was coming off my medication slowly. Everything was fine and then BOOM I am having attacks every night. It's nocturnal epilepsy so it messes with my sleep. I can't even take a nap in the day because I will fit. I almost fell asleep sitting up writing a form! Does anyone have any ideas to help lessen the seizures? Exercise, diet, making myself tired, etc.

What are your views on the way doctors deal with depression caused by epilepsy? Do you agree with putting children on anti-depressants? Let me know! In the meantime, I am raising money for Young Epilepsy, by travelling acres the Arctic next...

Epilepsy specialist nurses

Hi there, my name is Collette and I am soon to write a dissertation on epilepsy looking into the importance of epilepsy specialist nurses. My mum was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was 15 (now 49) and at this time these type of nurses did not exist. They play a vital part in the care of someone with epilepsy and help with support and understanding. So I just wondered if there was anyone who has had an experience with an (ESN) epilepsy specialist nurse and if so could describe in a few words...
