My doctor has been trying to get me to take a statin for a while but i have been very doubtful. This news story on the BBC says the side effects are exaggerated and that the benefits are very high.

What do people think of statins? Anyone on them? Are they giving you any issues?

Hi Carl,

I have been on a statin for about 10 years - i have had no problems with them. My GP makes me have blood tests every 6 months which is a little time consuming but otherwise i am sure they have stopped me having a heart attack as otherwise being a diabetic i am at high risk.

Maybe you should give them a go.
