Tumour in my sigmoid colon

I've been having rectal bleeding for a while so eventually went to see my GP 18 months ago, she sent me for a colonoscopy.
The hospital messed up my appointment twice and by the time they sent me a third I was too fed up to go.
My symptoms however persisted so after 18 months my GP sent me back.
My colonoscopy was not as minor as I had been told. I was on the table for almost 90 minutes, when I eventually got off the table I could hardly walk as it set my back problem off.
The doctor apologised for the discomfort, I was told they found a tumour in my sigmoid colon and in his opinion it was malignant tumour.
I'm now waiting to see the surgeon to discuss surgery and removing the colon.
I should have hundreds of questions I need to ask the surgeon but I cant think of them, any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tom, I was given the diagnosis almost 4 years ago now and i'm still here. I had symptoms of back passage bleeding for around 2 years, but because i'm young didn't think it could be cancer. anyway, it was and i dealt with it because you have no alternative. life is normal for me now effects of chemo have subsided and i'm back to playing tennis, some cardio training and lots of cycling, so its very treatable you can live a full life after being diagnosed. you just have to take 1 day at a time
